To fully experience Generator online please stand in a relaxing open space with headphones and a blindfold to hand.
When performed live, Generator would be experienced via a 2m x 2.6m hung projector screen and audio guide. Additionally, audiences members will be blindfolded and guided to a safe exploration space by two audience mediators.
This section of reperformance within my practice identifies Marina's utilisation of immaterial art. Generator (2014) encapsulates the pinnacle of this genre of art as it creates "something which is close to nothing"(Abramovic, 2014), a concept which can directly be applied to The Artist Is Present (2010) as well as a selection of Marina's earlier works. The immersive nature of this work evokes Abramović's key themes of using the body as a site for performance, co-authored work with empowered audiences and employing haptic perception to create sensory-based experiences.
